Apprenticeship Training

Goals

To make available unused labor hours from the unemployed individuals willing to join the Mutual Aid Group that focuses on learning a trade to start and grow a business in a wide variety of areas, improve personal and financial security, and help the society carry its own weight.

Overview

  • Mutual Aid Group members working in this area of focus will work with partnering organizations and selected local businesses to learn a trade. They consist of apprentices who want to increase and broaden their skill levels. They are responsible for finding a training provider for the trade they want to learn. The provider can be a school, an employer, or a workshop owner. They use their own tools and their own transportation means. They provide 20 hours of work per week to the partnering organization and receive 10 hours of formal training from the partnering organization. They receive a monthly participation incentive from Reciprocitas. A Mutual Aid Group Facilitator supervises them.
  •  All trades, traditional and non-traditional, new and emerging are part of this area of focus. The list below is therefore far from exhaustive.

  • Construction, block and brick making, welding, auto mechanic, agricultural mechanic, carpentry, cabinetmaking, plumbing, cooking, butchery, bakery, tannery, pottery, breeding laying hens, goat breeding, salt production, etc.
